Dear all, this is interesting even to me... I visited my friend Vasundhara for a short trip to Mmbai and life had its way of showing the true reason behind my trip... I had a plan of visiting all my landladies where I had stayed in Mumbai as a paying guest.I wanted to visit them especially because they fall within the age group that would fit "VRIDHAPPI" aims to serve. However, paucity of time allowed me to visit only one of the three land ladies and she stayed by herself and she is a Parsi and who had taught me to make "undapapita" ( meaning "egg on potatoes").
She was truly surprised to see me especially because when I left Mumbai seven years back, I had not gone to say bye to her. I rang her bell worriedly hoping she was there as I had completely lost touch with her. The maid opened the door and asked me who I . She went and informed aunty about me. Aunty came with a question mark on her face because she could not put a face to my name. This too comes with age... she saw me and instantly she was mighty happy to see me. She apologized and told me that she was now 81 years old and that her memory was fading. So we told each other what had happened in the years and then she asked me if I could do her favor but then she realized I was not living in Mumbai. But I insisted her to tell me what she wanted. She immediately had a smile on her face and told me that she wanted to make a Will. So I told her that I would definitely help her by telling my ex-colleague who was a lawyer and a Parsi too. She was extremely excited and I did exactly that before I left Mumbai. I gave the details of aunty to my friend and ex-colleague and told her to take care of her needs.
On my way back when I was sitting at the airport reminiscing about my trip, it dawned on me that I had actually done the first service in Mumbai and there kind of started my journey to VRIDHAPPI....:)
